So once again Evolution Machine does the rounds of thanks to those who came down to lend support on what was a landmark occasion for us - with the release of our very first EP - a culmination of time, effort, sacrifice, a little frustration :), and now rejoice!
Huge thanks of course go to Arkayan, Axe Cane and Beyond Never for putting in their all for the occasion and doing so with style!
Thanks also to Jim for doing sound and lighting, Charlotte and Alex for slowly freezing to death on the door, and the bar staff for waking up this morning with just a little less hearing capability than they had at around 8pm last night...
Lastly, a big thanks to Luke Rinaldi of Sweetmate Productions. For those who aren't familiar with the process of booking a show, it involves firstly finding a suitable venue and requesting permission to use it.
Luke not only extended the Rosemount welcomingly to us, but worked with us the WHOLE way to ensure everything went smoothly. He's part of the reason we all got extremely cheap entry and free EP's last night.
Its great to see that there are promoters in the community who really do invest in the bands that they work with - Thanks Luke!
And Lastly, to the crew who came down late at night in Antarctic conditions to watch/listen to what we have achieved - Evolution Machine thanks you and very much appreciates the effort that you put in. Hopefully, you all enjoyed the night as much as we did!
Stay tuned for more shows shortly!
Cant wait for the debut EP "Hopeful Monster" to be released? You dont have to!
Today the EP just became active on cdbaby and iTunes, and although this will remain the official Evolution Machine website, they're also present on a bunch of other websites - incuding ReverbNation, jjjUnearthed, Bandcamp and Soundcloud - where the EP can be streamed and purchased NOW!
Of course, if you want the physical CD, artwork and glory that goes with owning a hard-copy of the EP, get down to the launch at the Rosemount Hotel on Friday May 31 - Only $5 entry!
Well, our Epica opening show flew by in the blink of any eye, but it was a fantastic experience for us. So much to review, assess and learn by watching bands like Epica - who really have the concept of performing live down-pat.
Evolution Machine would like to extend a huge "Thank you" to those punters who were able to make it down early on the night and lend their support to our opening-slot.
Evolution Machine now look forward to another landmark moment next month, when we launch our debut EP 'Hopeful Monster' on May 31 at the Rosmeount Hotel in Perth.
All updates and information will be available and updated by regularly checking this page or visiting the official facebook event page, here.
Thanks once again!

Our first (informal) review of our Hopeful Monster EP, from new EM-listener Matt Oldfield. Thanks for the kind words, Matt!
Sorry it took me so long to get back to you. If you don't remember me, my name is Matt. You gave me a copy of Hopeful Monster about a month ago and I thought I would share some thoughts after listening to it quite a few times!
Firstly, the production was superb. It's hard to believe you guys did this yourself! The drums in particular sound really huge and carry the other parts very nicely. Hues & Hemispheres in particular has wicked progression with the drum parts. I actually remember listening to it the first time and getting up to about 4:50 and thinking "shit, dropping a double kick here would sound beastly!" and to my pleasure it came in about 20 seconds later if I remember correctly. Also, towards the end of Hopeful Monster there is some crazy percussive sound that came in that I loved... I couldn't work out exactly what it was though!
All the electronic parts sounded angelic. Favorites were the stab used at about 3 minutes into Lullaby and the lead used in the chorus of Hopeful Monster but all of them were bloody great! All the guitar/bass parts sounded excellent as well, the guitar solo in Hopeful Monster is so far beyond anything I could achieve haha, it was Dragonforce-esque! Absolutely brilliant. The thing I loved about the bass and rhythm guitar parts was that their sounds were relatively consistent throughout all 3 tracks which gave the release a really cohesive feel.
The vocals really surprised me (in a good way). I was expecting something a bit more 'metalish' (poor term) but I feel that the overall sound really benefits from having something more melodic. You're singer is indeed very talented and the harmonies that are pulled off with backing vocals work great. The only thing I would have maybe liked was a bit more reverb on lead vocals in some points... Possibly the verses of Hopeful Monster could have sounded cool with a light delay. But I guess that's more of a personal preference for me (surf rock fan, haha). Being completely honest, I cant find any real flaws in the production, I'm just trying to so my message seems more constructive haha
Just thought I would share my thoughts Can't wait to hear what you guys release next.

We'll be honest. it can't be ALL work...
Somewhere amongst the performances, the rehearsals, the new EP and all the behind-the-scenes promotion, musos still need to be able to unwind - And even better when it's with good company!
Heres Brooke BBQ'ing and hanging out with the crew from Nightwish (Floor Jansen behind the camera, for those wondering) during their Australian tour.
Big thanks to Andy for hosting!
